SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for over 130 SOS Children’s Villages associations worldwide. As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education and health. In the International office of MENA Region we support all the activities of the nine national associations, ensuring that they operate in accordance with established principles and standards. Head of Emergency Department (f/m) for the region of Middle East and north africa

Location: Casablanca/Morocco

The Head of Emergency Department plays a key role in supporting the Member Associations (MAs) to be prepared for emergency response. He/ she is the central interface for all emergency related issues in the region. The position involves the monitoring, evaluation, communication and coordination of emergency programmes in the region. This involves providing expert advice to key stakeholders in MAs and the federation.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

§  ERP IOR team management (advisors) and skills development

§  Management of consultants and out-sourced collaborators

§  Strategic planning

§  Organization of field capacity building & training

§  Research and Development (SOPs)

§  Coordinating the roll-out of new intervention models

§  Responsible for the conception of new intervention models

§  Responsible for funding and donor coordination

§  Responsible for financial management coordination with IOR Finance

§  Responsible for HR management coordination in the field (roll-out of HR SOP; involvement in key position recruitment – PC, finance controller etc.)

§  Coordinating and leading consultancies in security, HR, finance, programming, audits

§  Responsible for security management

§  Leading & coordinating rapid assessments

§  Responsible for planning new programmes in new countries

 

Requirements:

 

§ Education to Master’s degree level preferably in social sciences

§ Knowledge and experience of emergency and development issues

§ Proven programme & project cycle management skills

§ Experience in humanitarian sector

§ Excellent organizational skills

§ Proven stakeholder engagement

§ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

§ Proven leadership skills

§ Capacity building experience

§ Ability to work under pressure, prioritizes well and meet deadlines

§ Willingness/ability to travel extensively, at short notice and in unstable conditions;

  • Languages: Arabic and French highly desirable
