The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Rabat is seeking an individual for the position of Development Outreach Writer/Editor

                                                                                                                                     

The Development Outreach Writer/Editor will ensure that written outreach materials are shared with US Embassy personnel, the donor community, USAID/Washington, and international media outlets as appropriate so that information on USAID public activities and projects is widely available.  The incumbent will develop standardized written publications in English that communicate project data, including impact and outcomes of USAID programming in Morocco.  S/he will coordinate the organization of media tours and media round-tables on specific aspects of USAID programming.  S/he will travel throughout Morocco to USAID project locations to collect data and write feature stories about USAID activities.  S/he will make contacts with US and international media outlets to find new ways of communicating USAID stories to a wider audience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

 

Education:   A bachelor’s degree in the field of public relations, international development or international relations is required.

Experience:  A least three years of experience in writing articles for a variety of target audiences is required.  

Language:  Excellent speaking and writing capabilities in English is required.

Skills and Abilities:  Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are required.  Must be capable of crafting information messages in various media formats (press releases, websites, cables, etc.) targeting a variety of audiences. Good coordination and organizational skills within multi-cultural work environment are required.  S/he should be a self-starter with superior capacity to quickly absorb and synthesize written materials.
